SIPJ held the inaugural reunion of SEEED JobsForLife alumni on 19 August 2017 at Hotel Armada in Petaling Jaya. The first SEEED programme began in Kuala Lumpur in January 2015, and was followed by a second programme in Pandamaran, Klang and a third in Kapar, Klang in 2016. Representatives from the three batches of graduates attended this reunion, together with many SIPJ members, SEEED facilitators and several guests.
Dato’ Anusha Santhirasthipam, conceptualiser of the SEEED JobsForLife programme, enthused: “We were amazed and excited to listen to their heartwarming stories, unique life experiences and new beginnings after graduating from this multiple award-winning transformational programme in 2015 and 2016.”
Many alumni who attended expressed that they would like to “pay forward” the opportunity they received and have offered to volunteer or become trainers or facilitators for future programmes. Some also shared novel ideas of how the programme can be adapted to social media and for future outreach.
Many more members of the alumni had informed us that they would have joined us but were working. Some were unable to attend because they were based in other parts of the country, some had prior commitments to other events, examinations or family functions. We missed their presence and hope that they will stay in touch with us.
Dato’ Anusha added: “Overall, there were wonderful conversations, awesome company and superb organisation – thanks to the SI Petaling Jaya team and facilitators, especially Sheela Chandran, Janice Kwok, Kavidha Natarajan, Puteri Bahjah, Grace Yoon, Sharon Wong, Premila Thiruchelvam, Ming Tsuan Sen and Sulochana Chandran.”
